Kakadu (part 2)

The next 2 days in Kakadu were brilliant.

We had an early start for a sunrise boat cruise on Yellow Water. It would have to be close to the absolute highlight. The scenery was spectacular and the number and diversity of birdlife was breathtaking. And of course the main attraction - the saltwater crocodile - did not disappoint. The kids were thrilled with the buffet breakfast afterwards!

Later that after noon we went to Ubirr in the eastern corner of Kakadu. The aboriginal rock art was really quite amazing and the breathtaking view from the top of Ubirr is exactly as I remember it from 17 years ago.

On the final day we trekked out to Gunlom falls for a walk and swim. The falls pass over an infinity edge rock pool through a gap in the escarpment and it was a great finale to a magnificent Kakadu experience.

Tomorrow we head to Darwin (via a croc cruise on the Adelaide River) before the kids fly home and I start the long drive back to Brisbane (accompanied by my mate Andrew Gockel and his dad)
