STOP 5 – DRYSDALE RIVER STATION

The Brownhills have gone back to try their luck again at Mornington whilst we have moved on so we are on our own for a while. Well sort of – until we ran into the Wrights and Paolucci’s at Drysdale.
Galvan's Gorge
It was a big trip on the dirt and we stopped off at Galvan’s Gorge for a short walk and morning tea and then on to Mt Barnett Roadhouse for desperately needed fuel (at $2.05/ltr) and Mannings Gorge. Sadly we had underestimated the time and there was no way we were going to get to Manning Gorge (3hr return walk) for a swim and still get to Drysdale (although I hear it is a pretty long and hot trudge so maybe we should not feel too disappointed)

We survived some pretty rough currogations and got to Drysdale and set up camp Shortly afterwards a carload of dust caked, smelly but very happy Wright’s pulled up on their way back from Mitchell Plateau. It was great to catch up, share stories, down a cold beer and feast on the fantastic buffet at the homestead dining area.

Have lost the D-bolt and half of the shackle chain from the trailer – must have hit a hard rock – will have to tie the trailer to the car with cable ties and duct tape!
