STOP 2 – MT HART WILDERNESS PARK

This was a very last minute decision to stop off here instead of moving on to catch up with the Wrights at Bell Gorge – will have to catch them up later.

Mt Hart is 50km off the main road and a less ‘mainstream’ stop which was the main attraction. The campsite was perched on the edge of a creek and there were very few of us at the large site. The flushing toilets and hot showers received the stamp of approval from the girls and the kids became expert at toasting marshmallows on the great campfires we lit (from the timber we clearly got from outside of the park!).

Susan relaxing
A few short (and very bumpy) trips to some of the picturesque isolated gorges and swimming holes filled the days easily. We quite literally had the places to ourselves.

I managed to squeeze an inflatable boat into the camper trailer and the kids tried their hands at paddling the boat in the creek alongside the camp

Toll to date
-       broken Anderson plug so the battery on the trailer is dead – patch job with tape and cable ties – pretty happy with that
-       Flat battery in the car (whilst listening to State of Origin decider on ABC radio – oops!)
-       Snapped handbrake cable on camper trailer – can’t fix that with cable ties!
-       Snapped wires to the lights in the car bulbar
It is a bumpy and dusty road!
