We have backtracked a short distance (back across the Pentecost River – water level just above the bottom of the car doors) to Home Valley, another massive station immediately adjacent to the northern boundary of El Questro.
The homestead campsite sits adjacent to the western bank of the Pentecost with magnificent views out over the rugged and spectacular Cockburn Range.
The plan was to meet back up with the Brownhills for a couple of days of relaxation on the green lawns beside the swimming pool and playground for which the Station is well known. But no Brownhills on day one – stuck up at Drysdale awaiting repairs on their camper trailer which had taken a bit of offense to the rough currogations on the way back from Mitchell Falls.
Home Valley is a nice change from the Gorge treks and waterholes that have dominated the Gibb River Road and a lot less dust. Not much to do here except sit by the pool, read a good book and enjoy a cold beer.
Day trip to Emma Gorge today – part of El Questro – nice but not spectacular. I think we are all a little ‘gorged out’.
Tomorrow is back to Kunanurra and the end of the Gibb River Road.
What a great adventure it has been.

Gee...what a trip! Sounds superb! Weather sounds awesome and warmer than here. Glad to hear that you are all well and the car/trailer has survived reasonably well. Not sure who will want to buy your car after the adventure it has been on. We are all well here. Dean pretty excited that the Reds won – you missed a good game! Looking forward to catching up in a couple of weeks.
